LPC Organization
DPG/POG: Tau
LPC Tau Group
Charge:
Provide local support and development framework for tau identification, reconstruction and triggering. Assist US groups in gaining experience in tau realm, work in close collaboration with the CMS PF/Tau group.
Group Co-heads:
Anna Goussiou (Notre Dame) and Alexei Safonov (Texas A&M)
Meetings and Communications:
- Meetings: every other Friday 11:00AM-12:30PM Central time
- Agenda: LPC Tau on Indico Agenda Server
- Mailing List: lpc_tau(at)fnal.gov

Main Tasks and Current Status:
- Optimization of the tau
trigger setup
- Contact person: Chi Nhan Nguyen
- Demonstrated that tau triggers can be re-optimized to have low Level 1 ET thresholds (~15 GeV uncorrected) while preserving the same trigger rate as in the Physics TDR
- Optimization of the cone algorithm (web-page supported
by C. Velkeen)
- Contact person: Christian Velkeen
- Studies aim at optimizing tau reconstruction to accommodate low-to-intermediate energy taus as well as maintain high reconstruction efficiency in the high eta ranges.
- Particle-flow based tau reconstruction
- Contact person: Dongwook Jang
- A package utilizing only PF tracks and photons, similar functionality
- Converting and non-isolated photon reconstruction
- Contact person: Nancy Marinelli
- Need to be integrated into the common PF structure. Attempt to expand existing code for isolated converting photons.
