CMS DC04    Activities of the week of Week of February 9, 2004

Activities
Task Responsible Issues Status
  • Code Released to make Persistent Reconstructed Objects (RPROM) (A3)
    • Release of preliminary reconstruction code capable of storing reconstructed objects persistently
    • Deliverable: ORCA pre-release for testing and validation
Facility Reps None
  • Test Streaming Code at Tier-0 Center
    • Use COBRA release to verify streaming code works properly at Tier-0 center
    • Deliverable: Process a 100k dataset and break into streams based on a physics, trigger, or arbitrary selection.
Werner None
  • Performance Test Tier0 - Tier1 Data Transfers (Tier0 and Tier1 Representatives)
    • Using identified Tier1 and Tier0 hardware components perform transfers using SRB and SRM to verify data transfer rates can be achieved
    • Deliverable: 8 hour transfer tests that demonstrate all transfer tools proposed for DC04 can hit the desired transfer rates in terms of megabytes transferred and number of files transferred.
Tier1 Reps
  • MC_RunJob Released for Analysis Applications (Greg) (A18)
    • Release of a version of MC_Runjob that does not require contacting RefDB to determine input data and job parameters.    Used for analysis aspects of DC04 at Tier-1 centers and Grid based batch analysis
    • Deliverable: MC_Runjob release
PRS-CCS None
  • Tier-0 Agents Released (Tim and Owen)
    • Basic scripts that handle agent functionality for Tier-0 center as outlined in the document by Tim, Owen, and Dave
      • Entering files in the transfer database
      • Registering files to SRB and RLS catalogs
      • Moving files into the appropriate output buffer
      • Removing files when transfer database has a safe entry at a Tier-1 center
    • Deliverable: Scripts and documentation for Tier-0 agents
Greg
  • Tier-1 Agents Released (Tier-1 representatives)
    • Basic scripts that handle agent functionality for Tier-1 center as outlined in the document by Tim, Owen, and Dave
      • Query transfer database at CERN to determine new files to transfer
      • Start transfer tool, SRB or SRM
      • Enter successful transfer into database
      • Update RLS or SRB MCAT with new physical file location
Deliverable: Scripts and documentation for Tier-1 agents
Tim and Werner
  • Enable RLS Service at Tier-0 Center
    • Deploy RLS service on identified Tier-0 hardware.    This task is pushed back to allow newest version of this service to be deployed
    • Deliverable: verify RLS service can handle registering files at the rate expected during DC04

  • Verify Client Updates and Queries of Central RLS service
    • Deploy RLS clients at Tier-1 centers to update existence of new replicas.    This functionality only makes sense on sites with Storage Element interfaces (SRM or a GridFTP door).     For sites using SRB, the new replicas should be registered in the SRB MCAT.
    • Deliverable: Verify RLS clients at Tier-1 centers can update central RLS service at CERN.
