How To Get To The LPC Documents

There are three similar means of arriving at pages to access LPC documents. In order of more specific to LPC topics first, and more general to all documents last, these are:

  2. You can access the LPC Topic documents at http://computing.fnal.gov/cgi-bin/docdb/private/ListByTopic?majorid=16.
  3. You can access the Computing Division's Document Database page, either This places you in a page dealing with documents on every topic in the CD database; you may wish to select by topic and choose LPC or one of its sub-topics.
In each case, there are then lists of documents, search facilities, and so forth.


How To Add a Document to the LPC DocDB

  1. Go to the CD Document Database page at http://computing.fnal.gov/cd/documents/ and choose Private access.
  2. If you don't have an existing session logged in to the DocDB, you will be asked for a username and password. The username is lpc. Please ask a fellow LPC member to find out the password, or contact Hans Wenzel or Mark Fischler.
  3. Choose Create or Change documents or metadata, and select Create a New document. The number of files field is optional, but if the document consists of more than three files, it will be more convenient later if you supply that count now.
  4. Fill in the information about the new document. Make sure to select one of the LPC topics. The following tips might be useful when filling in the Requester and Authors:
  5. When you submit the document, a page will appear showing the assigned document number. This is useful for future modifications.


How To Modify a Document in the LPC DocDB

  1. Go to the CD Document Database page at http://computing.fnal.gov/cd/documents/ and choose Private access.
  2. If you don't have an existing session logged in to the DocDB, you will be asked for a username and password.
  3. Choose Update and supply the document number.
  4. If you upload any replacement file, the version number will change. Modifying the "metadata" (access restrictions, abstract, keywords, etc.) will leave the version number intact.


The DocDB product is fairly intuitive and contains ample help facilities.
