INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the LPC is to facilitate effective collaboration in the CMS experiment by physicists located in the US by providing the tools and community that allows them to contribute to the fullest possible extent in the work needed to ensure successful data taking and analysis on Day One. The upcoming cosmic slice test and next summer's test beam runs give us an ideal opportunity to prepare the tools we will need to accomplish this goal. We need to be sure we can receive the data, along with other information
which will be needed to monitor the data quality, analyze it, and give feedback to the experiment, in real time.  We need to be
able to use the data to improve detector performance, particle identification algorithms, and software infrastructure. And, we also need to develop and strengthen our ties with our colleagues at CERN. To achieve that, we set up a set of tasks, sorted by the group below. Most of these tasks do not have names associated with them, so please contact us and the LPC group heads if you want to join the cosmic muon/testbeam effort and make an impact!
